One of my favourite dry flies
Good evening guys!
I just had to tie a few flies before I jump into the bed. This is one of all my favourite dry flies, an imitation and a variant of a caddisfly (Trichoptera) called the Europeá 12.
This fly has been very important to me and for my success by the river as a fly fisherman. I never go and fish for grayling without at least 1(0) of these in my fly box. The caddisfly is also one of the most popular flies to eat if you´re a grayling in the areas where I come from.
I have been very lucky with this fly, caught some nice graylings on this fly last year.
But I dont tie all my Europeá 12s like this. I like to tie my flies in different shapes and see which one that will work out best that day in those kind of circumstances etc etc.
But this one with the parachute hackle lays closer to the surface and I think it is more visible for the fish to see it from down below, because of the silhouette.
Please, feel free to comment here on the blog if you have any thoughts, questions or anything!
Hope you´re dreaming about your dreamfish tonight!!

What a beautiful fish and what a fight!!
Good day!
Casper, Mattias and I went out fishing yesterday. What a day, good weather conditions, flies were hatching and fish were raising. I walked out carefully on the weak ice and casted out my small green nymph size 16 and got really lucky and a beautiful browntrout was on!
And what a fight! I will remember this for the rest of my life!!
I will try to update my blog later with a shorter video clip. It was a really funny fight!
And I can tease you with that we had to break some ice in different ways to land this fish!
Have a goooood day all!! TIGHT LINES!!

What a beautiful colored fish! Caught on a size 16 nymph. This is also my personal best, 63 cm. |

New fly tying material and photos
Good day all!
Day before yesterday Mattias Nilsson (a friend of ours and a fishing guide in Saxnäs) showed me and Casper a female capercaillie that he got in his freezer, full of nice feathers for fly tying!!
It was quite hard to just stand there and stare at that beautiful bird, so we brought it up from the freezer and picked every feather that we felt were useful for fly tying, and it ended up with some bags.
Mattias girlfriend Cilla have made some pancakes now, and it smells amazing!! So now we are going to eat and enjoy that, and later on we will go out and dance with our fly rods in the snow, and maybe we might trick some char up on the dancefloor!

Right after we were done with the picking of the feathers, I just had to try the new material. And I ended up with this one. |
